In January 2023 I created a new series of sculptures. It is called MEMENTO MORI and embodies the decay and dissolution of matter into nothingness. Composed of the series FOLDED BODY and the series CORPUS FRACTUM, they form a bridge between the rectilinear contours and tectonically shaped surfaces. They thus reflect being and passing away. The body, once carefully carved out of the wood with its precisely calculated edges and contours, becomes fragile due to hundreds of incisions. Finally, the sculpture gets its corporeality from the pieces of wood broken out by force.
